Calico Creativities Workshop
2008-2009 Series Schedule

Calico Creativities Workshops are designed to compliment each performance of Calico Children's Theatre and engage children and parents through the artisitic learning process.  Attendance at the performance is not required to register for a workshop.  Workshop pricing applies to children.  Parents are free.  Seating is limited, order tickets today! Workshops are approximately one hour in length.


 




 

Song Writing - Write Like a Rock Star!!
Presented by Thaddeus Rex

Saturday, October 11, 2008  12 p.m.
Location: Peter Jones Bldg., Student Lounge
Cost per child is $6

What's the secret to transforming a blank sheet of paper into a poem, story, or report?  PBS veteran and Award winning singer/songwriter Thaddeus Rex loves to teach the art of creative writing.  With specific techniques to help generate ideas and get them on paper, this interactive workshop engages everyone in the room as children brainstorm ideas and collectively write a song.  Writing is not easy, but with the right tools, you can do it.  Join Thaddeus and Write Like a Rock Star!! 
Recommended for grades 3-6 (Maximum attendance is 70)
Participants will write and record a song with Thaddeus Rex during the workshop.  All participants will receive an mp3 recording of the song after the workshop via email.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dance Language of India
Presented by Cultural Centre of India

Take a journey through exotic India by exploring various classical, folk and traditional music and dances.  Learn ancient dance techniques while engaging with an instructor from the Cultural Centre of India.  This interactive workshop is designed to introduce participants to the culture of India including such topics as arts, life styles and traditions.

Ventriloquism for Beginners
Presented by Lynn Trefzger

How do you make a sock come alive?  With Lynn Trefzger's help you'll discover the secret to creating a talking sock.  Learn ventriloquism skills for beginners, how to say the ABC's and basic words, and how to move a sock puppet in sync.  This workshop focuses on writing & story development, basics of ventriloquism and figure manipulation.  Join us for this fun activity and amaze your friends and family! 
Recommended for grades K-6
(Maximum attendance is 40)
