Biological Sciences Degree

Individuals who work in Emergency Medical Services serve on the front lines of healthcare. For those who already have their EMS-B or Paramedic Certificate, this associate degree program offers an opportunity to take their careers to the next level in supervisory and other advanced roles within the EMS network. In addition, earning a technical associate degree in Emergency Medical Services makes graduates eligible for UC Clermont’s Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies degree (BTAS).

What is Emergency Medical Services?

This Technical Associates Degree is a degree completion program available only for students that have an EMS-B or have already earned their Paramedic Certificate, either National or State of Ohio. The EMS-B/paramedic license earns students 30-hours of technical block credit that are applied to this degree. To complete this Technical Associates degree students complete an additional 30 hours of General Education courses.

This ATS-B degree allows students to transition to the UC Clermont Bachelors of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS).

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities

The UC Clermont College campus is on 92 wooded acres located in Batavia, Ohio, in the heart of Clermont County. We are relatively small and our faculty-to-student ratio is low. You will find small class size and personal interaction with your instructors create the ideal learning environment. Parking is convenient and at no additional charge. Plus, our tuition is the lowest of the UC colleges.

You will obtain your clinical experience in area hospitals (including nationally recognized University Hospital, a level one trauma center) in emergency departments, intensive care units, anesthesia, labor and delivery, and pediatrics.

Admission Requirements

UC Clermont College is an open admissions campus. If you have your high school diploma, GED, or its equivalent, we will admit you. We accept applications all year long and you may start any semester. Financial aid takes 6-8 weeks to process. We recommend that you apply at least 10 weeks prior to your desired attendance.

You must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, and have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent. This Technical Associates Degree is a degree completion program available only for students that have an EMS-B or have already earned their Paramedic Certificate, either National or State of Ohio.  Felony conviction, multiple DUI convictions, or being on parole will disallow your licensure and prevent your admission to this program.

Transferring to UC Requirements

You must be in good academic standing at the college or university you last attended. We accept transfer applications all year long and you may start any semester, provided your transcripts arrive in time to be evaluated before the start of the semester you wish to attend.

If you have not taken college-level mathematics or English, you will need to take the placement test.

Changing Majors within UC Requirements

Other UC students may transfer into Clermont College by completing the application for change in college and program form available from most UC admissions offices (including ours, (513) 732-5319). You are urged to see your advisor before transferring into a different major to minimize any impact on your degree progress.

International Student Requirements

This Technical Associates Degree is a degree completion program available only for students that have an EMS-B or have already earned their Paramedic Certificate, either National or State of Ohio.

Graduation Requirements

You must complete an application for degree and receive a pre-certification from your academic advisor the semester before you expect to graduate. You should see your advisor or Student Success and Retention Services - (513) 732-5319 for specific information well in advance of your final semester.
