You've likely heard the old adage, "To really understand someone, you need to walk a mile in their shoes". Job shadowing is a way to do just that — experience a day in the life of a working professional. Job shadows typically last anywhere from two to eight hours long, and involve you observing the work habits, routines and processes of someone in a field you think you’d like to work in. We encourage students to shadow professionals to get a true sense of the reality of a job and career field. Job shadows are open to all students, all programs.
Who can you shadow? Anyone! If you already have contacts in your network, use them. If you need help finding someone to shadow, visit the Career Services Center in McDonough 100.
