Math Placement Test

The Math Placement Test (MPT) is a computer based test used to determine a student's math preparedness. It is designed to be taken without the use of calculators or other aids.

The Math Placement Test consists of multiple choice questions that are presented one at a time. With each correct answer, a more difficult question is presented. As soon as the program determines the level of mathematical preparation, it will display a placement score on the monitor.

The Math Placement Test can be completed two times with at least four weeks between each attempt. Math placement scores are valid for one year. The second attempt must be completed in a proctored environment through Testing Services.

Retake Policy

All students are given the option to retake the test ONLINE one time. After the second attempt at the Math Placement Test, retakes must be proctored by UC staff and can only be taken after 21 days have passed from the last attempt.

Please contact Testing Services to schedule an appointment to retake your Math Placement Test.
