Be a Mentor
Mentoring is a powerful way to help the next generation of UC Clermont students as they navigate their college and career paths.
As a mentor, you will be paired with a UC Clermont student who is looking for educational advice, career guidance and life lessons. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact on the life of a student.
Mentors draw on their real-world experience to give students advice about making smart choices in school, getting ahead in their careers and developing social skills. They serve as confidence boosters as well as role models.
Mentors often take students to their workplace to give them a first-hand look at "the real world" -- much like a job-shadowing experience. And they offer insights on a range of skills -- developing time-management strategies, approaching faculty members and supervisors, preparing effective resumes, handling interviews and dressing for success.
The time involved is up to you and your student -- but we encourage you to meet with your mentee at least once a month, nurtured with emails or phone calls.
All mentors will be invited to a kick-off meeting where the Career Services Center will provide guidance and best practices on how to mentor, and on ways to get started with your mentee.
If you are interested in mentoring a student, contact the Career Services Center at careerservices@uc.edu for more information.
