Math Study Groups and Tutoring Student Reviews
My tutor, Krish was awesome! He answered all the questions I had and was super cool and helpful! I really appreciate you it!!
The UC Clermont tutoring services were a tremendous help with my online math course. Without even seeking out help, a study group was offered to my class, twice a week, at a convenient time. I really liked how the sessions aligned directly with what we were covering in class. Each concept was broken down for us in an approachable way, with step-by-step explanations that I found to be very helpful.
The tutors created a comfortable, conversational environment where I was never afraid to ask questions or admit that I didn't understand something. They were always willing to meet me at my level and find a different way to explain the concept until I finally got it. I appreciate the time, energy, and support offered by the tutors to help me succeed — it shows they really care!
I really like how convenient the services are — and the fact that it's totally free!
The tutors are super understanding and nice and will walk you through anything and everything that you have trouble with or questions about! If you have the option to get this free tutoring, take it. It will help you in the long run.
One of the best parts of the tutoring service is they send you a weekly math problem set that follows your class. The study group is interactive as you want it to be, and the more you participate, the more you learn.
All the tutors are friendly and helpful. They are knowledge and give you the background behind solving problems, which really helps when you move on to more complicated applications. When you attend the study groups, they give you time to solve the problems, then walk you through the problems when you’re stuck.
The tutors aren’t just available during your assigned study group times. They can schedule time to go over questions you have for homework or test prep. This was one of the best things I did during my math classes; it helped build my confidence and gave me more practice.
My experience this year with tutoring was amazing. I’m an older student; I graduated from high school 35 years ago. My last math course was long ago, so needless to say, I was nervous at the beginning of the semester. I had not done well in Algebra in high school and was lucky to pass it at the time. At the beginning of the semester, I started Tuesday and Thursday tutoring with Candace, and I could not have asked for a better tutor. She was patient and thoughtful and really made sure I understood each lesson. I just completed my last two algebra homework assignments, and my grade now at the end of the semester is an A! I could not have done that without Candace. She is an excellent tutor!
This is by far the best tutoring I have ever had. I love how the tutors work at your time and convenience if you are not available for the scheduled tutoring time. Math is not my favorite but I had fun with math this semester because of my tutor, Valentine. He went the extra mile to help me understand how to solve problems step-by-step. If you are someone who needs help with math, please take advantage of the tutoring offered at UCC Learning Commons. They will help you succeed in math!
Working with the Learning Commons in math has helped my grade go from a “C” to an “A-”. I personally like working one-on-one with a tutor. It is easier for me to focus on work and being able to focus on one equation if I am not understanding the different steps. Please do not be afraid to go to the Learning Commons! As someone with a learning disability, taking this extra time for tutoring is helping me keep my good grades. MAKE THE TIME TO GO! Believe me, I know the struggle of finding time to do anything as a full-time college student, working part time in a pharmacy during COVID and taking care of my mother during her cancer treatments.
At the end of my math class I can definitely say I got my best score ever (93 percent) from attending the tutoring in the math study group. After my own study, I still needed to attend the weekly study sessions before I started my assignments. That way I was confident about what I was doing. Whenever I had questions to ask I could email or call the tutor and I always got help. What I liked about my tutors was the way they were patient and always available to help us. That way we could solve any math problem.
Whenever we needed more help, Mr. Valentine, one of our tutors, would always schedule a later 25-minute appointment with each person who needed it. I think all of us like the way the tutor was kind, funny, respectful and very available to help. We got so much attention from our tutors! I'm so glad I attended this study group each week. My final grade reflects the work we did during those weekly sessions.
The tutoring service was the key to me passing Intro to Algebra. There are no words to explain how much my tutor, Mrs. Bernard, has helped me this semester. I was always terrible at math; I graduated high school in 2007, and I barely passed math back then. My math skills since 2007 were long gone but Mrs. Bernard never gave up; she was amazing in every aspect. It was more than just a task to help me; she really cares! She was my cheerleader and was just as excited as I was when I passed a test. I wish I could have her again for my STAT class next semester. She is the key to my success this semester. I cannot tell you or her how much I am grateful for your tutoring service and Mrs. Bernard’s efforts; they are the reasons I can move on to a higher level of math. If you're a military vet or just someone who is struggling with math, ask for help and get a tutor. It was the key to my success. If you're lucky, you will get Mrs. Bernard!
I just wanted to say Krish was not only well prepared and patient, but extremely flexible with my somewhat off the path questions.
