Psychology Program Information

A degree in Psychology prepares students to work within fields that require or benefit from an understanding of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and animals.

At UC Clermont College, faculty with a variety of backgrounds teach courses that help prepare students to achieve their academic and career goals through their expertise in the various sub-disciplines of psychology and our dedication to creating engaging courses. Students will learn core concepts and identify how to apply these concepts in their work and everyday life.

Psychology Programs at UC Clermont

This associate degree provides students with the opportunity to take courses in the various sub-disciplines of psychology including clinical, cognitive, psychobiology, developmental, personality, social psychology, among others.

Careers Opportunities: Behavior Technician, Case Management, Human Resources, Lab Technician, Business, or the pursuit of advanced degrees (master’s or doctorate) in various fields.

Interdisciplinary program which prepares students planning to transfer to another institution to complete coursework for a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience.  Courses include a combination of Psychology, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics

Career Opportunities: Laboratory Technician or Manager, Research Associate, Biologist, Microbiologist or pursuit of advanced degrees (master’s or doctorate) in Psychology, Medicine, Biology, among other.

Interdisciplinary certificate program which prepares students who plan to seek a master’s degree in art therapy which focuses on non-verbal expression in a therapeutic setting. Courses include a combination of fine arts, psychology and art therapy.

Psychology Internship Opportunities

Students will learn about how to support adults with neurological conditions. In this group, we will work with patients with two primary neurological conditions: multiple sclerosis and movement disorders/ Parkinson’s at the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute. Students will apply their knowledge and skills in a practical setting, learn about professionalism, and gain insight into how their behavior affects others. Students will complete weekly readings, written reflections, and a project based on a topic of one’s choice. Meetings will be on Mondays from Noon to 3 or 1-4.

The Ridge Addiction Treatment Center is a residential treatment program that provides support to adults with substance use disorders and dual diagnosis. Under the supervision of an art therapist, students will observe and assist in weekly creative art-therapy groups with residents of the Ridge. Students will learn about and be trained to support adults with substance use disorders and dual diagnosis. Students will apply their knowledge and skills in a practical setting. They will learn about professional etiquette and gain insight into the ways their behavior affects others. This internship is offered Mondays, 12:00-3:00pm and is offered to a maximum of 2 students per semester. It is available as a 1 or 3-credit hour class.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistants will be assigned 5-6 students to mentor and evaluate throughout the semester. Students will receive training and attend weekly meetings with instructor. Students will complete a number of career assessments and prepare for their next internship, job application or graduate school application.
